Bihar Area Centenary celebration
The Medical Mission Sisters’ Centenary Celebration at Kurji Holy Family Hospital campus in September 2025 was a deeply symbolic and spiritually rich event, honoring 100 years of healing ministry since the founding of the Society by Mother Dr. Anna Dengel in 1925. It was a campus-wide tribute to the MMS Centenary filled with gratitude and praise from September 21st, 23rd to 25th, 2025. Bihar area met the expense of medical treatment of some poor patients. And did charity work by providing grocery to the poor families in a slum area on the occasion of the centenary celebration.
The solemn celebration of the Holy Eucharist was on 21st morning in the Parish for the parish community, presided by Rev. Fr. Vimal Kishore SJ, Patna Provincial of the Jesuits.


On the 23rd for the Kurji Holy Family Hospital community in Dengel Hall, solemnized by the Archbishop of Patna, His Grace, Right Rev. Sebastian Kallupura. They were complemented by festive meals on the 23rd for Archbishop Sebastian, his secretary Fr. Satya Prakash, and MMS family at Daya Deep; on 24th Lunch was served in both cafeterias including Dengel Hall for the whole hospital community numbering over 950 and on the 25th for relatives, friends and benefactors around 150 in Deepanjali. Overall, there was a vibrant atmosphere with well-designed decorations.


The heartfelt greetings of our co-workers, parishioners, neighboring Sisters, Priests, and all those who share in the life and mission of MMS at KHFH Patna highlighted the strength of our shared network, partnership, collaboration, and commitment to God’s healing mission.
The events were enriched by a Power Point portrayal of the MMS history, highlighting also beginnings of MMS in Patna City in 1939. The joyful echoes of “Happy Jubilee” and heartfelt congratulations sparked infectious smiles through the days. In his homily, Archbishop Sebastian Kallupura captivated the MMS Society, enriching the reflections on the life and mission of the sisters, past and present.

May we carry on the legacy we honor today of Mother Dr. Anna Dengel’s pioneering vision, that health care can be a ministry of justice, dignity and love; that healing is spiritual, social, and deeply human. May the healing charism gift us, inspire and guide us in placing our unwavering trust in God as our journey unfolds into the beginning of the next century.
